Sleep is a passion of mine. And I don't just mean I like doing it! I love geeking out on the latest sleep science, listening to podcasts and videos from top neuroscientists and keeping up to date with the latest knowledge about the mysterious and wonderful world of sleep.

 

I'm a CBTi sleep coach, too. If I can help you get your sleep back on track I know that the ripples of that one small change will flow out into the rest of your life, making instant improvements to your relationships with yourself and others, your stress, anxiety or pain levels, your relationship with food and drink and your ability to focus and be productive at work. Your tailored sleep programme

The Sleep Sanctuary provides a treatment programme tailored entirely to YOU, incorporating
evidence-based CBTi (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for insomnia) alongside hypnotherapy.
​ 

​

CBTi is recommended by NICE (National Institute for Health & Care Excellence) as the medical profession's first-line approach for sleep disorders. It's healthy, has no side effects and will enable you to change your habits, behaviours and mental beliefs about sleep so that you can reverse insomnia.

Important components of the programme include:​​

​

  • Helping you to set and maintain a consistent routine;

  • Optimising your sleeping environment;

  • Identifying your behaviours and how certain activities and substances can have a positive - or negative - effect on your sleep;

  • Examining your thought process related to sleep and providing strategies to help manage anxiety, low mood and negative thoughts.

 

​Combining the science of CBTi with hypnotherapy will help train your mind and body how to switch off at bedtime, tune into a feeling of comfort and release any underlying stress and anxiety that contributes to or perpetuates insomnia. You'll also begin to re-programme your deep-seated beliefs about your ability to sleep, making this blend of science and mind training a powerful combination!

Get started quickly


Serious about getting your sleep back on track? This three-session programme carried out over six weeks is designed specifically for YOU! By the end of the programme you'll have a much better understanding of sleep, you'll recognise the things that are most (and least) helpful to good sleep and you'll get to experience some wonderful guided visualisations that will help you release stress and calm your mind at bedtime - or any time!

Along the way you'll receive:

 

  • Simple, actionable and effective strategies to put into practice

  • Helpful Sleep Sheets that recap everything we cover in our sessions

  • A sleep diary to track your sleep habits and record your progress

  • Recordings to listen to at home

  • Hypnotherapy during sessions


As you begin to use your new knowledge and skills the aim is for you to notice an incremental improvement in your sleep. There are no shortcuts to improved sleep and it doesn't always happen overnight, so you may need to be prepared to make changes to your lifestyle and daily routine. We'll work together over three sessions spaced two weeks apart, to give you the opportunity to implement these changes, but for you that's really only the beginning. Humans are creatures of regularity and routine, so you'll need to keep all your good work going after the programme ends to feel the maximum benefit. The work we do together and the tools I give you will make this easy for you though!

Session 3

 

In this session we'll check in with your sleep diary and take note of any improvements made as well as considering any tweaks we might need to make.

 

Together we'll take a closer look at:

 

  • Insomnia - what it is, how it develops and how it worsens

  • The role of anxiety and stress in insomnia

  • What is and isn't helpful in treating insomnia.

We'll finish off with an introduction to hypnosis and a beautiful guided visualisation that will leave you ready for a wonderful night's sleep!​​​

Session 1 - Assessment and Introduction

Together we'll complete an in-depth assessment of your sleep problem, which can be done by video call or in person. This is the first step on your journey to better sleep. During the assessment we'll gather information about your sleep, your lifestyle and daily/weekly routine, any medications you take and the impact your sleep issues have on your life and your activities. The assessment takes around 35 minutes to complete and any information you provide is treated in the strictest of confidence.

You'll also learn all about:

  • The role sleep plays in our lives

  • What we need in order to fall asleep quickly and easily at night

  • Your internal body clock - or circadian rhythm

  • Why your chronotype (whether you are a morning or evening type of person) has a huge impact

​

At the end of the session you'll get to experience a short but powerful exercise that will help you tune out anxiety or mental chatter and tune into a feeling of comfort in your body. 

 

Depending on your sleep assessment there may be some quick and easy solutions for you to put into practice immediately. You'll leave with a sleep diary to complete at home which will inform our next steps and you'll also receive a recording of the exercise we have just done to listen to in your own time.

Session 2

During this session we will identify some actionable steps using information from both your assessment form and your sleep diary. You'll leave with a sleep plan you can put into practice immediately.

​

We'll take a look at some of the common things people do that have an impact on their sleep - both good and bad - and answer questions such as:

​

  • Are daytime naps good for you?

  • Does alcohol help you sleep?

  • Do you need to give up your morning coffee?

​​

You’ll get the chance to experience just how powerful your own mind can be, and we’ll finish off with a really fantastic breathing exercise that will help you to fall asleep easily at bedtime

Session 4

In our final session we'll celebrate your progress and talk about how you can maintain these improvements without falling back into old behaviour patterns and habits.

​

We’ll take a whistle-stop tour through my top science-backed tips for healthy sleep, so you are fully armed to keep up the amazing progress you have made.

 

And before we finish this course I will give you the opportunity to experience a full hypnosis session that will consolidate all your learnings to date  and see you on your way to a wonderful night’s sleep - every night!
