Do you want to drink less alcohol?

Many of my clients tell me they want to cut down on alcohol or even stop drinking altogether. Very often, what started out as one relaxing glass of wine in the evening has turned into something that is much harder to justify.
Sometimes, they've noticed the weight piling on (and we all know how much snacking increases when we drink alcohol, right?)
Sometimes their sleep has become disrupted and they are struggling to find energy during the day. (Because alcohol fragments your sleep, causing lots of micro awakenings during the night).
And sometimes it's just not financially viable to continue drinking regularly anymore (And that's not surprising when £7 or £8 seems to be the norm for a bottle of wine these days!)
Alcohol has a way of becoming part of our everyday life - whether it’s socialising with friends, unwinding in the evening or celebrating milestones. After a while it becomes it becomes much harder to simply say to ourselves or to others, “No, thanks.”
And yet for many of us, enjoying a glass of wine is one of life's great pleasures.
So the question my clients tend to ask me is, "Can it be done? Can I reduce what I drink without giving up altogether?"
And the answer is a resounding - yes, absolutely! If you want to simply moderate your drinking it's entirely possible.
Why Do We Drink?
For most people, drinking alcohol isn’t just about the way it tastes. It can serve as a way to:
Unwind after a stressful day
Ease social nerves
Mark the end of the week
Boost confidence or cope with uncomfortable feelings
Socialise and be part of the group
But over time, these patterns can turn into habits. You might find yourself pouring a glass of wine without thinking, or telling yourself “Oh, just one more” even when you planned to stop.
How Hypnotherapy Helps with Drinking
Hypnotherapy isn’t about willpower—it’s about changing the way your mind responds to the thought of alcohol and everything it represents to you.
It can help you to:
Break unhelpful habits – so reaching for a drink isn’t your automatic response to stress or other uncomfortable feelings.
Reduce alcohol cravings – by rewiring how your brain links alcohol with relaxation or pleasure.
Develop healthier coping strategies – replacing the “glass of wine at 6pm” with rituals that support your wellbeing.
Feel more in control – whether your goal is moderation or complete sobriety, hypnotherapy supports your personal choice.
Say "No thanks, I'll have a soft drink." when you are in company.
The Benefits of Reducing Alcohol
Even small changes in drinking habits can have a powerful impact. Many people who cut back notice:
Better sleep and more energy
Weight loss
Improved mood and focus
Healthier skin and digestion
A greater sense of control and self-confidence
No Judgement or Guilt Trips
When you work with me to reduce your alcohol consumption there will be no judgment, guilt tripping, or focusing on past struggles—it’s all about guiding you forward in the most appropriate way for you. Hypnotherapy can help you feel stronger, calmer and more in control of your relationship with alcohol.
If you want to reduce your alcohol consumption or create a more alcohol-free lifestyle, you don’t have to do it alone. With hypnotherapy, lasting change is not only possible—it can feel surprisingly natural.
"I am feeling a lot better. I'm even managing to go into a shop without looking at the alcohol aisle."
